Frequently Asked Questions

Please get in touch with us at daije@thompsonspoolservice.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.

Each monthly service plan includes a defined scope of services outlined on the Service Plans page provided during the service agreement process. That page lists what is included for each plan tier (Standard, Plus, Complete, and VIP) and serves as the written scope of service for your account.
Services, chemicals, or items not expressly listed are not included unless approved as an add-on.

No. Service plans are intentionally defined by the scope of service rather than by itemized materials, as chemical and service needs vary with pool conditions, usage, environment, and season.
Itemized lists of chemicals, quantities, or materials are not provided for monthly service plans. The Service Plans page and Residential Service Agreement govern the final scope.

Chemical coverage depends on the selected service plan. Some plans include basic or specialty chemical coverage, while others do not. Chemical usage varies based on conditions and demand and is governed by the selected plan and service agreement.

No. Hot tub and spa drain-and-refill water changeouts are not included in any monthly service plan. These services require additional labor time, water replacement, and chemical rebalancing and are treated as separate add-on services.

Hot tub drain-and-refill service is $65 per instance, which includes draining, refilling, and rebalancing the water chemistry before leaving the property.

In Arizona’s desert climate, most pools benefit from a drain and refill approximately every 2–3 years to reduce dissolved solids and maintain water quality. Actual timing depends on water conditions, usage, and chemical demand.

Yes. Thompson’s Pool Service is licensed, bonded, and insured under Arizona’s CR-6 Swimming Pool Service and Repair license (ROC #351315). We are qualified to perform a wide range of pool equipment repairs and maintenance services in accordance with Arizona standards.

Weekly service is the standard for maintaining proper sanitation, circulation, and water balance. Pools with heavy use, landscaping debris, pets, or environmental exposure may require additional service or supplemental visits.

  • Cartridge and DE filters are typically inspected and cleaned every three months, depending on pressure and condition.

  • Sand filters are backwashed as needed based on operating pressure, with increased frequency during summer months.

Filter cleaning inclusion depends on the selected service plan.

We do not provide physical service slips. However, service documentation, photos, and updates may be provided as needed, and clients are always welcome to reach out with questions or concerns regarding completed service.

Yes. We have extensive experience servicing saltwater pool systems, including salt cell inspection, cleaning, and salt level monitoring. Proper maintenance is essential during Arizona’s high-temperature months.

Service is provided under a Residential Service Agreement, which outlines service scope, billing terms, and expectations. While there is no long-term contract requirement, the agreement governs all services provided.

Pool service pricing varies based on pool size, type, service frequency, and scope. While pricing in the Phoenix area ranges widely, Thompson’s Pool Service pricing reflects professional service standards, chemical coverage (where applicable), and licensed service.

During summer months, most pools require 8–12 hours of pump runtime per day. In cooler months, 4–8 hours is often sufficient. Runtime may vary based on equipment, pool size, and usage.

Routine professional maintenance helps ensure safe water conditions, extends equipment lifespan, reduces algae risk, maintains appearance, and helps prevent costly repairs caused by deferred maintenance.
